1. What attracted you to the sport of skydiving?

IH: Actually my boyfriend at the time was attracted to try skydiving, while I was so scared just by the thought, you wouldn't have even gotten me near a Dropzone. His birthday was coming up and to gift him the experience of a Skydive seemed perfect. I felt obligated to go with him and do the jump together, you know the whole couple thing... After my coworker's wife told me it wouldn't feel like the typical roller coaster feeling (which I 'm not a fan of) and after watching, of course, countless YouTube videos, I felt brave enough to do it. We had a long weekend vacation planned in San Diego, so I called a Dropzone out there and scheduled our first jump. But not just tandems, no it had to be the full program for us, AFF course it is. The birthday surprise was a big success and the AFF class started early on a Saturday morning.

Luckily the wind conditions changed by the time we finished AFF class and students weren't allowed to jump, so we did a tandem jump instead, which was the best that could happen. I can only recommend doing a tandem before considering AFF for every first timer!! Well once up on full altitude it turns out that now he was the scared one and me the crazy excited one:] the jump was mind blowing! It changed my life right there!

2. What influenced you to actually make the phone call to make your first skydive?

IH: Well five months after our first tandem jump, my boyfriend broke up with me and sure I was devastated. I needed a new hobby! One that would bring me my smile and happiness back! I remembered how I couldn't stop thinking about my first tandem jump for months! So I decided to look up the nearest and friendliest Dropzone and just give them a call and ask for the next AFF class dates. Thinking about signing up for a class got me so excited, that I knew this is what I am going to get in to. My new hobby!

3. What's the most memorable skydive you've ever been on?

IH: Well I only have 65 jumps so far, but it is already difficult to pick only one...there was one where it suddenly started to rain and I remember that even though I was facing down to earth the rain still hit my face, it felt like hail actually, I was just very surprised...then there was the most recent jump where I managed to dock in a big group of 9 people for the first time.. .but I think the most memorable jump so far was in Florida where another jumper showed me for the first time a new different way to exit the plane other than the usual dive out. Let him show me this new exit helped me to get over my nervousness of the exit and just amazed and excited me in a completely new way.

4. Who / What inspires you?

IH: A lot of things, just certain moments, of course a beautiful sunset inspires me just as seeing a bird flying in a blue sky. A lot of different people inspire me, family members, friends in America and Germany, exercise coaches, my closest coworker, certain songs and a lot of experienced skydivers which just keep moving forward and making the best out of everything!

5. Of the places you have visited - what is your favorite place and why?

IH:..I really don't have one favorite place...a Dropzone is definitive one at the top of my list....

6. What other interests do you have outside of skydiving?

IH:You mean what I like to do if the Dropzone is closed? :] I like to do a lot of different exercises, kickboxing, running, yoga...take care of my car and my pets. I like to travel and of course meet friends!

7. What is something about you that few people know about?

IH: My natural hair color is actually blond.

8. What's on your bucket list?

IH: Doing the splits in free fall! Living some time in a bigger city on the US east coast, traveling to all time favorite destinations... new things being added along the way.

9. What do you do for work? If you could do anything as an occupation - what would it be?

IH: I am a software engineer for an automotive supplier. If I could come up with anything else I would like to do, I would probably try to work my way there.

10. What are your future goals?

IH: Well you know the usual, career, not getting hurt, enjoying life, being happy, never getting too old for stuff.
